Sign-Up for School Text Alerts to Stay Up-to-Date
Linn County R-I School District utilizes TextCaster as its alert system designed to broadcast messages to a database of subscribers. TextCaster is a mass notification service sponsored by North Central Missouri Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Anyone can sign up for Mustang Alerts and get important information about Linn County (school cancellations, student events, and emergency notifications) sent as email or text messages directly to your mobile phone and/or email account. It is an Automated Sign-up Application (ASA) - Go to our homepage at www.linnr1.k12.mo.us and click Quick Links and select the Mustang Alerts icon to the right of the home page. Signing up is easy and free, just two simple steps.
Step 1: Sign-up - Test Your Phone
In Step 2 of the sign up process, a personal authorization code will be sent to your mobile phone or email address. You will need to enter the 5-digit code in the next screen within (5) minutes in order to verify and complete your enrollment in the system. Do not navigate away from that last screen until your enrollment is complete.

School Cancellations/Early Dismissals
Winter is right around the corner, and with that in mind, it is in our best interest to keep our staff and students safe. If we receive a fair amount of snow please listen to the radio for school cancellations. We will still call the radio stations as soon as we know school will not be in session, and will try to do so by 6:30 a.m. If it starts snowing or getting slick during the day, list to the radio to see if we are letting out early. Remember, this is a big district with long bus routes and we have the safety of all of the students as our primary interest. Please have plans in place as to where you want your children to go in case we do let out early and you are at work. Do they know what to do? Does the school know what they are supposed to do? Do they need to ride a different bus, go to a different house, or stay with a friend? In the excitement of letting out early, it is hard to get to all of the phone calls that come in, so please make your plans now. In the case of small children, please let us know what the plans are so that we can insure that the students go where they are supposed to. It is much easier to have these plans ahead of time so the phone lines are not being used to make arrangements during the early dismissals.
